Basma Elmeligi, MSW
Significant life transitions and adverse life experiences are challenging enough - you should never have to fight these battles alone. I aim to create a safe space to empower you and support you in your therapeutic journey. Through my clinical approach, I strive to build a meaningful and supportive relationship with you to facilitate positive change.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with Minors in Psychology and Sociology from Northern Illinois University. I have earned my Master’s in Social Work with a Concentration in Child, Youth, and Family Services from University of Illinois. I have experience working with children and adolescents, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and have facilitated partner abuse intervention groups. Additionally, I am a certified clinical trauma specialist and completed my 40-hour domestic violence and sexual assault training.
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches and Attachment Based Therapy, along with various modalities that meet each client’s needs. In working together I will use what makes you a unique individual and your personal strengths to guide our sessions. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process between us and that both of our efforts will result in meeting your treatment goals. I look forward to taking these next steps with you.
