It is my belief that experiences both positive and negative impact one’s mental health and functioning in day-to-day life and that individuals have the ability to reflect and adapt to struggles in order to heal. Through the therapeutic process one can begin to make positive change by feeling safe, gaining personal insights, engaging in positive coping skills, and building one’s own resiliency. I strive to create a safe space where my clients are able to build strong therapeutic relationships with unconditional positive regard and open communication in order to bring about desired change.

As a bilingual individual (English and Spanish) I enjoy facilitating therapy in either language. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Creighton University,  earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Adler University, and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I have facilitated individual, couples, family, and group counseling throughout my years of practice while working in outpatient settings as well as residential facilities with individuals of different ages and backgrounds. I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), have completed my 40 hour domestic violence and sexual assault training, and am a Certified Green Dot trainer who has worked with Barrington High School in its implementation.

I use different treatment modalities in order to best meet my clients’ needs and to work towards an increased sense of resiliency when healing past experiences, including EMDR which allows individuals to explore difficult life-events and gain perspective that allows them to move forward. I also invite my clients to use different methods of self-expression such as art, writing, music, and spirituality in order to working towards their identified goals.

I strive to be knowledgeable and inclusive of all individuals and embrace multicultural dynamics relating to race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and age as forums for growth and insight and will be open in exploring identity in order to ensure understanding and support throughout this process. Therapy is a wonderful and complex journey that allows one to gain perspective and healing and I look forward to joining you on that path.
